Benefits of Foreign Education for Indian students

For all those who can afford the costs, I would personally recommend them to study abroad. Here are a few simple reasons why I think Indian should be opting for studying abroad:

•Better infrastructures, better campus and facilities. This is very important for disciplines such as engineering, biotechnology, pharmacy etc. The funding for these in many Indian universities and colleges is often limited. In addition to this the quality for research in these fields is also limited. In many foreign universities students get an opportunity to work with great scientists and noble award winners and this is not available in all Indian universities or colleges.

•Today businesses have become more and more global. Education in foreign universities offers better placement and richer job opportunities. Those who have qualifications from reputed foreign universities would be set apart from other job-seekers in a competitive job market. In addition to this many Indians who choose to settle or immigrate to other countries, education in these countries adds a lot of benefit to their immigration applications like bonus points under skilled migration etc

•The Indian education system is more theoretical and most of the foreign education system in countries like USA, UK, Australia or New Zealand is very practical. In addition to this there is a friendly relationship between a teacher and student in most of the foreign countries. In countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada there are many regulations and acts which guarantee quality education to students.

•Exposure to diverse cultures would enhance the student’s tolerance and develop a balanced approach to problems in life. It encourages independence, and enhances future job prospects.

•Indian students would be able to develop special skills including language and communication skills in a global environment. This would add to their personality and self-confidence.

  2. Vikram I think Nishi is right as only a few institutes in India have quality, the UGC and other bodies cannot control quality

  3. I think this is sound advice, even if you are not Indian. Going to a different country and exposing your mind to different cultures helps one become a well rounded individual (even if it is for a short period of time).

Case in point: A colleague's kid is now attending a university in Beijing, he is from US and now can speak the local language. I think such unique skills/experiences are a plus on one's resume.
